About

Thomas J. Henion, Executive Director Madison Avenue Crossroads Community Ministries, Inc. (MACCM) was formed in 1997 as the outreach and service arm of Madison Avenue Christian Reformed Church of Paterson, NJ (est. 1910).  The Reverend E. Wayne Coleman has been serving as Pastor of the Madison Avenue Christian Reformed Church for the past two and half years.

Our Mission

MACCM helps to meet the spiritual and physical needs of the members of the community by responding to those needs with community-based and designed solutions and strategies in a way that helps people help themselves. Believing that true transformation of lives comes only from the power of Jesus and His word, we design strategies and programs which focus on the needs of children, youth, teenagers, individuals, and families to spread the Gospel message and to alleviate the conditions of hunger, poverty, illiteracy, under-education, unemployment, homelessness, addictions, family crisis and other needs within our community.

Our Vision

Service
We share in word and deed the heart of God in service for and with the poor and oppressed. We are servants to and with our community, teaching those served how to serve. “Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus: Who being in very nature God, did not count equality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant.” (Philippians 2:5-7).
Advocacy
Just as Jesus is our advocate with the Father, we will defend, encourage, support and champion individuals and their rights within our ministries (and community). “Even now my witness is in heaven; my advocate is on high. My intercessor is my friend as my eyes pour out tears to God; on behalf of a man he pleads with God as a man pleads for his friend.” (Job 16:19-21).
Empowerment
We help people and communities help themselves, solve their own problems, use and develop their own resources, and develop as leaders; educationally, economically, politically, socially and spiritually. “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work with within us, to him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.” (Ephesians 3:20-21).
Reconciliation
We believe true transformation of people comes through reconciliation to God through Jesus Christ and to each other, bridging all racial, cultural, economic, geographic and social barriers. “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation: the old has gone, the new has come! All this is from God, who reconciles us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation.” (2 Corinthians 5:17-18).
